Dear students!

Three wishes at once: Congratulations concerning everything you successfully finished in the winter term, happy holidays for those of you who can really make use of (the rest of) February in this sense and all the best for getting started again in the summer term!

As usual, here's some information from our field of activity.

See you soon!

Changing our counselling times: Personal and Phone Counselling
  Piktogramm Uhr

From mid-February 2016 on, Student Point staff members will re-organise their forces, which leads to changed opening times of the Student Point Info Center. The latter will be closed on Fridays - starting this week, on February 19th! "Traditionally" our opening times for personal counselling were coinciding with this time frame.

In order to continue offering students the direct access to both Team Barrierefrei counselling about studying with impairments and general information about studying and admission and the university by our Student Point colleagues, we will likewise change our opening times. From February 24th onwards, the following is valid:

Personal Counselling: Wednesdays, 9 to 11 a.m., Student Point Info Center (Main Building)

We are going to slide over our telephone counselling times by one day accordingly, in order to be directly reachable on at least two different days of the week.

Phone Counselling: Thursdays, 1 to 3 p.m., +43 1 4277 106 26

We kindly invite all interested students with an impairment to join the next session and add their own experiences from every-day study life! Besides coffee and cake there will also be a book voucher waiting for you as thank you present.

We are looking forward to receive a short announcement of interest to

Lecture Notes' Exchange in 2016 Summer Term: Registration until March, 31st
  Piktogramm Dokument

Our Lecture Notes' Exchange has been created for students who cannot take (full) notes themselves. While a member of Team Barrierefrei is coordinating it, the main support is coming from fellow students: They upload their written notes to a moodle online platform specially created by Team Barrierefrei. We will come to the lecture hall and ask fellow students to write and upload notes. We generally respect your privacy by offering the service anonymously - except if you explicitly do not wish so.Detailed information about the Lecture Notes' Exchange and about how to register can be found here (in German language):
The registration deadline for the 2016 summer term is March 31st, 2016.

We thank our hitherto student employee, the freshly graduated "Magister" Oliver Bousek for his long coordination of the Lecture Notes' Exchange and wish him all the best for his new tasks. In the same breath we warmly welcome Hannah Schroeter, his successor!

Looking for: Ambassadors of the Lecture Notes' Exchange of Team Barrierefrei
  Pictogramme vortraghaltende Person

Are you good at convincing people in a few minutes to show some engagement? Would you like to work with us on the low level? Are you - by chance - around at one of the central spots of the University of Vienna? Then we would like you to apply with us as an "Ambassador" for the Lecture Notes' Exchange!

The Lecture Notes' Exchange's aim is that study colleagues will upload their notes on an online platform. They will be available to persons who cannot take notes (fully) due to their impairment.

Task profile: Holding short lectures (2-5 minutes) in selected lectures (about 10-20 per semester). Motivating a handful of study colleagues in the lecture to provide their notes. Handing out and collecting name lists for these volunteers.

Main work time: April / May

If you are interested, we are looking forward to receive a short application to

Workshop Track for University Staff - First Half of 2016
  Pictogramme vier Personen stehen zusammen

Proposed by the Advisory Board “Barrier-free Studying” in spring 2015, Team Barrierefrei has planned a workshop track, which is running right now. It aims at informing university staff about specific impairments, corresponding inclusive teaching methods, adequate ways of interaction, existing special technology and the question of compatibility with one’s own teaching and document design.

The topics are: Deafness, special technologies (a.o. for the visually impaired / blind), autism, chronic diseases, inclusive didactics in natural sciences. Specific information an dates can be found on the following page:

Although we have advertised the workshops in a structured way on paper and electronically, sometimes a personal hint can make the difference! Thus you are very welcome to forward this information. Those of you who have interested future lecturers with information needs: Feel free to invite them!

We also highly welcome concrete feedback from your study life, which leaders can include into their workshops and which can serve well as examples.

We thank our project employee Mag. Raphaela Rainer for her "help to give birth" to this new project and the subsequent quick and smooth organisation!

  Piktogramm Lupe

Summary of the original call text by "bundessache" project:

The working group "bundessache - LehrerInnen inklusiv" (engl.: "federal affair - inclusive teachers"), consisting of teachers with disabilities, is looking for teaching degree students with disabilities. Students who have already entered the teaching internship or who have finished their studies are most welcome. The aim is to get to best practice examples which display how personal ways of teaching degree students with disabilities have developed and if they have reached their goal to work in the Austrian education system after completing their studies (or if they have found an alternative occupation). Those who have successfully entered a career in the public school system shall serve as a role model to show (future) students that it is possible.

Detailed information about the project "bundessache" can be found here: (Grundlagenarbeit)

Those who would like to volunteer being interviewed with the co-ordinator of the working group "bundessache", MMag. Gregor Zamarin, can find contact details beneath. It will be agreed during the talk, how the content will be used: Publication on the website of "bundessache", final report to the social ministry, anonymous or with name included.
